My story started in November 2008, when I fell down the steps at work. At the time it was thought to be a minor mishap, but my work colleagues were very wrong.

After seeing all the doctors as prescribed by ‘workers compensation’, months down the track I was able to obtain some treatment from my physiotherapist. Yes, I had a lower back problem.

2009 brought several other falls which exacerbated the back and upset the neck and shoulder. 12 months down the track I was sent to “Sydney Pain Management”, who actually believed that I had chronic pain. Finally, I was on the road to recovery. Hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and psychotherapy and I’m feeling better. I have improved balance, stronger core strength and a healthier attitude.

Then in 2010 I tore the ligaments from my bone in my ankle. Needless to say my back suffered. I have gained a huge amount of weight and was unable to walk for quite some time.

Recently in 2011, I have been able to return to hydrotherapy and I was coping much better with the pain and working on my exercise program. Then I found myself in a car accident, when I was rear ended by another car. My neck has suffered once again, my back has gone out in sympathy – back to my exercises, hydrotherapy and my wonderful physiotherapist.

To live with chronic pain can be annoying, frustrating and painful but what can be harder is living with the people who have never had chronic pain.

It’s been a busy week at Chronica since the launch of our app in the App Store – recently our application got a mention on CNET Australia, one of the country’s premier technology news websites. Chronica was featured in the “Friday App Wrap”, which is a hand-picked list of some of the best new apps to be released on the iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms. You can read the CNET article in full – below is a screenshot of the article if you can’t access it.

Chronica also got a mention on ABC Radio Perth 720 during the Monday afternoon Drive show (9th May 2011), in their “App Wrap” segment (we are currently trying to source an audio clip of this.)
